Jesus showed us the way
A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another - John 13: 34- 35.
What Jesus meant by the above verse is that you love your neighbour as yourself. Jesus fulfilled this commandment and showed us the way.
In beginning God created Adam in his own image, in the image of God create him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them. Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.
And the Lord God commanded the man saying, of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.
But man was unfaithful to God. He disobeyed the commandment of God, ate the forbidden fruit and thus sin entered. We all became sinners and fell short of the glory of God. Man was going away from God. Manís heart became the breeding centre for hatred, jealousy, anger, murder, adultery, fornication, and other iniquities. His heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it? - Jeremiah 17:9.
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continuously- Genesis 6: 5. All were sinners. No one righteous. He fell into all kinds of sufferings, sin, sickness, Satanic bondage, finally had to die and stand for judgement. It was appointed for a man to die once and stand for judgement and be consigned to eternal flames in hell, a place of ever burning fire and brimstone, where his worms will not die.
Adam instead of loving Eve he starting accusing her. Cain out of jealousy murdered Abel. Now there is hatred not only between individuals but among families and nations. Man lost this love, love with his neighbour. Love turned into jealousy, selfishness etc. We are not able to love our neighbor.
God so loved the world and sent His only begotten Son into the world. He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities. And he died for our sins, was buried, but was resurrected and sitting on the right hand of God. He is coming back soon, very soon to reward the righteous and punish the wicked.
Jesus had to die on the cross, shed his blood, gave up His Spirit, to write in our hearts this commandment.
God has given us through Christ Jesus a new commandment, a new covenant, a new testament which is not written with a pen, nor printed in the press but engraved in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and love our neighbour as we love ourselves. The Holy Spirit is our inheritance from the Heavenly Father. This cannot be stolen, this cannot be corrupted.
Jesus came into this world to save his people from the bondage of sin and Satan. He set an example of love so that we will do the same.
Love your neighbours as thyself. He who loves his neighbor has the love of God in him. When you love your neighbours we know that we have passed from death to life. He who has eternal life loves his neighbor. So Jesus came to show that first we have to set right our relation properly with others, otherwise we cannot get eternal life. Today there is no love in the family (father, mother, children, brother, sister). Today there is no love in this world. There is jealousy, hatred, anger, all kinds of sickness.
Way back in 1990 a serious ailment tormented me. Doctors were unable to root out the sickness. My mother wanted me to get healing urgently and get me married, beget children, build houses etc, and to live with all things of the world lacking nothing. When I was taken to the pastor, he simply but correctly said, if you have love in your heart you will be healed. First seek to love God and your brothren. When that which is perfect come, that which is in deficient will be met.
We should love our enemies and pray for those who torture us. Jesus loved the sinners, though he was separate from them. If we donít love we cannot move ahead in our lives and cannot get blessings. When person gets love, he gets everything.
Once a certain lawyer asked Jesus who is my neighbour for me to love? He said a certain man (supposed to be a Jew) went down from
Go and love your neighbour, Jesus said.
There is no greater love than that a person gives his life for others. To love means to give your life for others Ė John 15: 13.
